Exciting News Alert!

I am thrilled to announce that in October 2021, the Girls on the Green Tee (GOTG-T) organization was honored with the prestigious Aramco Team Series award as a "Driving Force in Diversity"!

This incredible recognition was bestowed upon organizations from around the globe that champion diversity, equity, and inclusion in their communities. Aramco Oil, the second largest company in the world, created this award as part of the company’s diversity and inclusion initiatives!

In its first year the Aramco Team Series was contested on four occasions in four different venues across the globe in London, UK; Sotogrande, Spain; New York, U.S.; and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The field attracted an elite field of the best women’s golfers and welcomed global stars including Nelly and Jess Korda, Lexi Thompson, Georgia Hall, Charley Hull, Minjee Lee and Anna Nordqvist.

During the Aramco Team Series (ATS) event in New York, held at the beautiful Glen Oaks Country Club in Old Westbury, NY. This event brought together some remarkable individuals who have made a significant impact in the world of golf in diversity and are driving change in the industry to make the sport more inclusive.

We had the privilege of having retired Golf Legend Gary Player, the first African American World Long Drive Champion Tory Mullins, and Clemmie Perry, Founder & Executive Director of Women of Color Golf (WOCG) and Girls on the Green Tee (GOTG-T) at this world class event to speak on a panel discussion topic of diversity and inclusion in the sport of golf.

Gary Player, a true icon in the golfing world, is widely regarded as one of the greatest golfers of all time. With an impressive career that includes winning nine major championships on the regular tour and nine major championships on the Champions Tour, he has left an indelible mark on the sport. Not only is he a golfing legend, but he is also a passionate advocate for diversity in golf.

Troy Mullins is breaking barriers and advocating for women in golf. Troy has become an ambassador to golf and is intent on creating opportunities for other women to become vital and valued within the game.She is a strong and established presence in the world of golf and represents the future of golf.

Clemmie Perry, is a community activist and advocates for women in golf and educates her community on the history of golf, Dr. Renee Powell and Clearviw and the important role golf will play in their future and for a lifetime. She is creating a gateway and a global pathway for women and girls of color to enter the game to expand opportunities in the sport of golf for marginalized communities.

Aramco awarded the Driving Force in 2021 to the following organizations, as a firm commitment to address gender equality and create local impact in the following countries. These include:

Aramco Team Series – London and The Girls Network, to mentorship opportunities to girls from disadvantaged communities, as well as providing the charity with a platform to promote its vision and mission;

Aramco Team Series – Sotogrande providing funding for the Andalusian Golf Federation to grow golf for young girls from different backgrounds across Southern Spain;

Aramco Team Series – New York and Girls on the Green Tee who used its platform to highlight issues around diversity and inclusion in the sport with financial backing to drive the charity’s objectives for young girls through golf: leadership development, self-esteem, confidence, and fitness experiences; and

Aramco Team Series – Jeddah and the Ladies First Club powered by Aramco provided local Saudi females unprecedented access to tour professionals and participation.

Based in Tampa, Florida, Women of Color Golf and Girls on the Green Tee, aims to empower women of color through the game of golf. Women of Color Golf and Girl’s on the Green Tee’s organization’s dedication and commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion in the golfing community have been truly inspiring! A well deserved award for certain!
